I have a 12 year old that questions everything from God’s existence, my childhood, the world as a whole and the world around her. She is very detailed and open to learn, giving me a lot of grooming room, also knowing this it is important that I stay open, patient and honest with her.
The last thing you want to do with a child trying to discover the world is to act like you are too busy to engage in questions or that because of her age she is to young to be concerned.
I know with life happening we get so busy and wrapped up in being adults we forget how it was to be that curious child that just “had to know” we get so distracted by life that we forget to live, or even worst we had no “voice” as a child so we grew into the same adult we despised taking away the voice of a child by being closed mind impatient or “” busy.
Well, for me, I enjoy the time we share talking laughing and loving each other, some questions are deep, some are a bit awkward and some even send me to research and I have to get back to her but the Joy in her smile and the shine on her face tells me she understands that she’s precious valuable and worth being heard.
It helps her to be confident in her ability to matter and exist in a world that pushes so many people and their feeling under a rug
So, let’s take some time each day to talk listen teach and learn from our children, let’s show them we love them and that they MATTER!
